Custom Video Academy
Videos for small businesses
In my review of the Custom Video Academy production, I provide details about this new training course for creating videos for small businesses, as well as service providers who want to produce the best videos possible. Nancy Landa created the Custom Video Academy. She has been an online marketer for more than 10 years, and started her own video production and marketing agency in 2014. Nancy clearly knows her stuff, and has the background to offer a training course about video production.
Before I get into the product review, let’s look at a couple of facts and statistics about videos for small businesses, and why training with a product such as Custom Video Academy is so important. As of 2018 YouTube, one of the primary video outlets on the Internet, has more than a billion users watching more than 500 million hours of videos each and every day! Already, one-third of all online activity is spent watching videos, and that number is increasing.
Plus, YouTube isn’t the only place you’ll find videos. More than 500 million people watch videos on Facebook every day. Between YouTube, Facebook, Vimeo, and other video outlets, about 85 percent of the Internet audience in the United States watches videos online.
So it’s not a question of if you should be creating videos for small businesses as a business owner or service provider…it’s a question of when. And “when” is right now! If you’re not already making videos for small businesses, you might have some catching up to do. Currently, according to the Wordstream advertising site, 87 percent of online marketers are already using video content.
Video production can present challenges
There are a couple of challenges you may run up against when creating videos for your business.
- Outsourcing video creation can quickly get expensive
- Many online marketers continue to use outdated templates, which are falling out of style
- Finding sources for the right graphics and images can be daunting
- Great videos start with great scripts, but where do you start when creating a video script?
- There are different styles of videos; how do you choose the correct format?
- If you’re charging for videos, how do you set the pricing so you get the job without leaving money on the table?
Challenges like these keep many local businesses from using videos as a part of their marketing strategy. There’s a HUGE opportunity for business owners and online marketing agencies to create videos to attract potential customers and service existing clients.
I know I’ve personally experienced several of those challenges in my own work. About two years ago I produced a short video for a local dentist. We decided on the “whiteboard” style for his message. I pulled together images, struggled with keeping the script short enough, and arranged for the voice over. E-mails flew back and forth with attached drafts. The dentist was happy with the final product, but I realized I’d under-priced the job by at least 50 percent! I could have used Nancy’s advice early on.
The Custom Video Academy is broken into 10 step-by-step modules, including types and styles of videos, video script writing, producing and finishing the video, optimizing and uploading your videos to the hosting platform, and pricing the videos if you’re a service provider. Nancy has also included a bonus module with checklists, cheat sheets, and resources you can use to find images, software, and more.
I think this is a well-done product that satisfies the demand for the production of high-quality videos. As Nancy points out in the course, producing videos is a skill that anyone can learn…they just need the right road map. And Custom Video Academy IS that road map!
While the course does a great job of covering the bases of producing videos, I thought the section on optimizing videos for YouTube—one of the largest and best outlets for videos—needed more depth. So I’m including as a bonus a no-fluff report, Video Marketing With YouTube.
There are two OTOs for the Custom Video Academy product:
OTO 1: A set of Pre-Rendered Agency Videos
OTO 2: An agency license to sell the Pre-Rendered Videos
As was noted above, it’s not a question of “if” you should start creating videos for your business or as a service provider…and it may not even be a question of “when.” You need to be producing high-quality videos right now, and you’ll find the Custom Video Academy a welcome addition to your creative arsenal.
